The Hardisty Story

Hardisty's Homewares provides the largest selection of specialty housewares and small, kitchen appliances in all of Wine Country. Located in Santa Rosa, California with more than 140 years experience, we scour the world for the best home goods for our customers.

The Great American Importing Company opened for business in downtown Santa Rosa in 1885 as a general store, selling housewares, bulk coffees, and an assortment of teas. Lee Hardisty purchased the store in 1924, calling it Lee Hardisty's. The company expanded to offer giftware, electric shavers, small electric appliances, and aluminum cookware, a new invention at the time.

Nephews Clem and Elwin Hardisty later added tabletop lines in the early 1940s, including Fostoria™ glass and Lenox™ china. In 1990 Elwin's son, Loren (Gerry) Hardisty, moved the company to east Santa Rosa with his daughter Kim. In 2001, the business location was then moved to the beautiful Farmers Lane Plaza, where we remain today. This move allowed for much-needed space for new small appliances, kitchen gadgets, cookware, gourmet coffees and a busy service department.

As the legacy continues, Hardisty’s Homewares is now a women-owned and operated business. Owner Kim Hardisty and her daughter Sarah share their culinary mastery with the community of Sonoma county.
